You know it’s Autumn when you put your shoes on and walk around in the fallen leaves outside, hearing the crackles underneath your feet! The Autumn season is a time to enjoy the changing colours of the trees and landscapes, cosy sweaters, and all the delicious pumpkin-inspired foods. There are many colours that we associate with Autumn including oranges, reds, and yellows and the days are starting to get shorter, signalling that winter is coming.

People might enjoy spending time with family and friends, going out for walks or going on picnics. You might also take part in autumn festivals to celebrate the season. Autumn means getting out your comfy jumpers and warmer coats. It’s a time to layer up and treat yourself to some delicious cosy drinks like, Gingerbread or pumpkin spiced lattes or a cup of nice hot apple cider to heat you up.

So, what does Autumn mean for your home? How can you style and decorate the interior of your home to make it feel extra cosy and warm? There are so many ways you can accessorise your home for this time of year. Here are some ideas to get you started:

Start by choosing furniture that complements each other. For example, if you have dark wood flooring, choose darker furniture to go with them such as grey or black sofas or chairs. If you’re light-hearted person who loves bright colours, go for yellows and oranges in your furniture. The colours will bring life to your home and make it feel warm and inviting.

Add some autumnal decorations such as pumpkins, leaves, acorns, or Druid symbols to your space. You can also spruce up common areas like hallways or entryways with door hangers featuring colourful leaves and berries.

If you have a fireplace, add some Autumn related items such as logs or drape an autumn mantel piece around your fireplace. You could add colourful leaves and berries or even some decorated pumpkins, to help bring a bright, decorative touch to your room. If you’re into crafting, why not be creative and make your own wreaths or simple Autumn garlands to spice up your interior and add a touch of you into your home.

Add a touch of colour with floral arrangements in shades of orange, yellow, and red paired with greenery like ivy or dwarf bamboo; alternatively try adding accent cushions in light colours to pick up the Fall vibes.

Keep accessories light-hearted and seasonal. Include pretty candles in votive holders or add some orange artificial eucalyptus leaves to a vase to decorate the centre of your table. You can even put up some Autumn-themed art on the walls or add some autumn foliage to your plants! You can be completely creative and unique when it comes to decorations and create beautiful pieces to show off to your friends and family, creating a warm and homely feel.

For added warmth and cosiness during these cooler months consider adding a big soft blanket or throws onto your sofas and inviting friends over for some cosy Autumn drinks! A warm blanket is the perfect way to keep your home feeling cosy and comfortable. Choose a heavy blanket for extra warmth or opt for a lighter one if you’re looking for more flexibility. Blankets can be used as bedding, draped over furniture to create a cosy atmosphere, or even just laid on the floor to provide comfort during colder weather!

If you have little kids, don’t forget about their rooms! This is the time of year when they start asking for more Halloween costumes and Christmas presents, so get them ready by adding a few pumpkins or other Autumn-inspired decorations to their bedrooms. Make sure to have plenty of delicious pumpkin-themed treats on hand to snack on while watching the leaves fall or snuggling up on the sofa to watch a movie!
